Local Guides, Genuine Experiences

Lapland native Eerik Nurmi founded our company in 2015 because he wanted visitors to experience the aurora the way locals do. Our guides live here year-round, tracking solar storms and weather systems that create the perfect conditions for spectacular northern lights displays.

We work with select partners who understand our standards – reindeer herders who still follow ancient migration routes, husky kennels where dogs are trained for Arctic wilderness, and glass igloo sites chosen for their pristine darkness.

Planning Your Arctic Adventure

When is the best time to see the Northern Lights in Finland?

Aurora season runs from late August through early April, with peak activity between December and March. During winter months, we have up to 20 hours of darkness daily, maximizing viewing opportunities.

Layered clothing is essential – thermal underwear, wool mid-layers, and waterproof outer shells. We provide Arctic-rated boots, gloves, and hats for all tours. Bring a camera with extra batteries (cold weather drains them quickly).

Most tours begin around 8:00 PM and last 4-6 hours, depending on aurora activity and weather conditions. We don’t operate on strict schedules – we adapt to nature’s timing.

Children 8 years and older typically enjoy our experiences. Younger children may find the late hours and cold temperatures challenging, though our heated vehicles and warm shelters make it manageable for most families.
